“66” Chair

This chair has been designed for participants who require some support in sitting.
Participants must have: good head control and have some upper limb function.

Folding Chair

The Folding Chair is made up of a rigid lower frame and a folding upper frame and is suitable for participants who:

  • Require head support or people with no/low head control

  • Height restriction

CAN PEOPLE WITH SPINAL CORD INJURIES PARTICIPATE?

Participants with a Spinal Cord Injury must wait 6 to 12 months after acquiring their injury before they participate.

A Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) is often a traumatic injury, the bones and tissues of the spine need time to heal before you can participate in extreme sports and experiences. You are more than welcome to participate once your treating Doctor has issued you medical clearance to participate.

IS IT SAFE?

Access Vertigo has been developed in consultation with and tested by Sporting Wheelies and other accessibility consultants. The custom-made wheelchair is made from aircraft-grade aluminium and is winched up to the dining platform.

All participants are shown a safety briefing video, showing how to correctly fit the harness of the chair model they will be using. The video also demonstrates the lifting and lowering processes for each chair.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Before arriving at Vertigo, you will be required to complete a questionnaire outlining your specific abilities and what is most comfortable for you.

The transfer from your own chair to the Access Vertigo chair will be determined by your questionnaire. Vertigo is equipped with a sling for transferring from chair to chair in a private room or with the assistance of Vertigo staff. You are harnessed to the chair, safely.

You will then be winched up to the Vertigo platform, enjoying Brisbane’s skyline views as you ascend. From there, the chair is locked into place at your table and your dining partner joins you.
Your chair is safely winched to the platform (with an additional backup safety system) at all times and the wheels locked into place.

There are three options for customers with disabilities when it comes to experiencing vertical dining.

Each option depends on the guest's level of physical ability.

  • Option 1: Standard Access - Low to Moderate Assistance
  • Option 2: Wheelchair Access - Low to Moderate Assistance
  • Option 3: Wheelchair Access - High Level of Assistance

Option 1: Guests with Low to Moderate disabilities who can mobilise and navigate stairs independently are welcome to dine in the standard manner as long as they possess the strength and stamina to climb the three flights of stairs leading to the dining area.

Option 2: Guests with Low to Moderate disabilities who require wheeled mobility to mobilise are welcome to dine using our “66 Chair.” In this experience people are lifted via wheelchair to the dining platform suspended 17 metres above the ground. (See below for our “66 Chair” guest mobility requirements).

Option 3: Guests who require a high level of assistance are welcome to dine using our “Folding Chair”. In this experience people are lifted via wheelchair to the dining platform suspended 17 metres above the ground. (See below for our “Folding Chair” guest mobility requirements).
